1. There have been a few discussion groups about people making their own fuel, even one or two in the student bulletin. Discuss the process and find out if this is an actual trend and if it's even practical or not.
2. How many students drive to campus? How many freshmen versus seniors have cars? With all the public transportation, is it realistic to have a car?
3. Discuss local gas price trends compared with those in other states, getting opinions about why people, mainly students, think gas prices are increasing.
4. Discuss the Smart Car for a few different reasons. First, one of the leading electric cars in the world to date. Second, about its recent release to the U.S. and what that means for the car industry and the consumer. You can also discuss trends with electric/hybrid/regular cars so people know the relative scale of cars owned.
5. With Halloween coming up, drunk driving is a very relevant issue. Discuss statistics for drunk driving in Boulder and ask students how they feel about it and what their motivation for drunk driving could be if they are clearly aware of the dangers and they do it anyway.

2. Are there any studies out there about the safety of small hybrid cars in winter driving conditions. Do people like certain cars over others here because of the weather conditions?
3. Is there any sort of automotive club on campus where students work on cars? If not does a local Colorado school offer this sort of automotive program at all?
4. Are there any studies in Colorado that show the color of a car as a factor in speeding tickets? I've heard before that people with red cars are more likely to get pulled over.
5. How should students prepare their cars for winter driving? Are there certain snow tires that are better than others? Also are there easy pointers to tell readers about driving on ice and in thick snow?
